In recent years, the demand for cosmetic procedures for the improvement of female genitalia has grown exponentially, and for two main reasons: firstly, because of the new fashion of shaving the pubes and the other, thanks to the advent of new techniques surgical.
The profile of patients is varied because, like the rest of the body, including the genitals are subject to aging dictated by the passing years. Moreover, pregnancies greatly affect these changes.
For this reason, the intervention of the reduction of the labia minora is more common in young patients with pregnancies behind, while that of the labia majora is more common in patients of a certain age.
You can make a classification of the different existing surgical techniques:
- Reduction of the labia minora: also known as cleft lip plastic, it is a simple operation, which is carried out under local anesthetic in the clinic.
- Clitoral reduction: Also called clitorido-plastic, this surgery is the surgical reduction of the clitoral hood, without damaging the nerves and without compromising sensitivity.
- Vaginal Rejuvenation: it is a cosmetic surgical intervention to strengthen the vaginal walls. It is very common to do so after giving birth.
- Increase of the labia majora: this surgery has the purpose of masking in part the labia minora, become more evident as a result of the atrophy of the labia majora.
- Pubic liposuction: an excess of fat in the upstream or pubic mound can cause abnormal unsightly bulge visible through clothing.
Other less usual techniques are: reconstruction of post-ablation clitoris, hymen reconstruction ( hymenoplasty) , the female PRP etc. All these interventions can be implemented simultaneously or separately.
The intimate surgery procedures are performed in the operating room under local anesthesia or sedation monitored through, usually on an outpatient. They are very useful to improve the self-esteem of the patient and his sex life. Generally, it is relatively simple interventions for a surgeon with experience, being very low risk of complications.
