What is diabetic retinopathy?
Diabetic retinopathy is an eye disease that affects people suffering from diabetes mellitus , especially Type 1. The disease can be of two types:
- diabetic retinopathy, proliferative form
- nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy
The first, considered the most serious, it is characterized by a very weak condition of the blood vessels, which tend to break. The symptoms are: impaired sight, ipovision and etc. The second one may experience symptoms such as micro-aneurysms or small exudates. This form may degenerate into proliferative.
