Liposuction or lipoemulsione: which to choose?
Written by:The Dr. Edro Colombini, an expert in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery in Turin , talks about lipoemulsion, the most effective alternative to liposuction to resolve cellulite and localized fat
1) What is the difference between liposuction and lipoemulsion?
The lipoemulsion is aimed at people, especially women, who have accumulated fat in particular areas. It is not suitable for those who are generically fattened, but rather for those people who, following a slimming diet, have maintained adipose accumulations in specific areas: abdomen, hip, inner and outer thighs, knee, ankles, and underside .
The lipoemulsion is therefore indicated to treat limited areas and not to treat generalized fatigue.
2) Lipoemulsion: When to Prefer to Liposuction?
The lipoemulsion is performed completely in a well-equipped studio and in local anesthesia: already for this reason it is much less traumatic than liposuction. It consists of the breakdown of the cell membrane of the adipocytes, cells containing fat. This rupture is practiced by ultrasound , which, with their internal action on the fat tissue, break this membrane. The body metabolizes fat so loose and completely absorbs it, with a uniform result.
3) Liposuction and Lipoemulsion: Do the same results be obtained?
The results of lipoemulsion and liposuction are very similar, naturally of treated areas: the comparison can be made on limited and not generalized areas.
The differences are:
The compression that needs to be carried out after the two interventions: for liposuction it is about 4-6 weeks, whereas the one taking after a lipoemulsion is one week.
After liposuction there are always bruising, sometimes quite abundant, and after the lipoemulsion they are virtually absent.
Recovery after a liposuction is partial after a week and total after about a month. In the case of the lipoemulsion there is an immediate recovery.
The first liposuction results start to notice after a month and will be definitive after 2-3 months. The first lipo-emulsion results are noticed even after 10 days and will be definitive after about a couple of months.
4) Lipoemulsion: Less stress for the patient!
The lipoemulsion is definitely less stressful than liposuction , as it does not include an operating room, pre-preparation for a normal surgical operation (for example, anesthesia) and long post-surgical recovery.
The first week after liposuction is minimally disabling, while in the lipoemulsion the recovery is immediate. Only on the day when the lipoemulsion takes place there will be a loss of fluid from the small forelins that are being used to insert the cavitation probe, which will last for about 10-12 hours. The next day the person can resume his normal activities.
