Menopause: what is it?
Menopause is a physiological period of woman's life that characterizes the stage where fruitful activity ends. Menopause usually refers to the term of menstruation , but in practice it is a time span of about 7-8 years, ranging from pre-post-menopausal manifestation to around 48-50 years.
What are the symptoms of menopause?
The changes occurring in a woman during premenopausal and menopausal periods affect the psychophysical state. From a psychic point of view there is a greater tendency to depressive crises and emotional instability. Depression is mainly linked to a magnesium deficiency that often helps a woman at this stage. There are some early signs, such as those of hot flashes , especially nocturnal, and sleep discontinuities that involve an early morning awakening.
When do you talk about early menopause?
Menopause generally occurs in a period ranging from 48 to 50 years (this is the average of the Mediterranean population). However, there are many variables: often and willingly menopause may occur even before this period. From 45 years onwards begins a hormonal instability phase known as " premenopausal ": before this date can be mentioned early menopause. To get a feedback, it's good to do blood tests, that is, the hormone doses. These exams are carried out on certain days of the cycle, namely in 3rd, 14th and 21st. The analyzes to be made are the hormone doses of FSH, that is, the stimulating follicle, the LH, that is, luteinizing, estrogen and progestin hormones.
How to deal with menopause?
During the menopause period some factors change, for example there is a slowing down of metabolism. This results in an increase in body weight and relaxation of the abdominal fascia. To combat these phenomena it is important to follow a proper diet , therefore it is necessary to reduce the fat and increase the intake of vitamin D, because a woman during this period is also subject to osteoporotic phenomena. The nutrition must be rich in protein and vegetables. Physical activity is also important: the woman should do at least three times a week 30-40 minutes of fast walking.
