Sutureless: The solution for those problems to the aortic valve

The research in the field of vascular surgery has made progress as regards the restorative surgery of the heart valves. The expert in vascular surgery explains the operation of these valves
How does aortic valve in normal?
The heart is a highly specialized muscle and works as a 'pump' as it facilitates the circulation of blood throughout the body. Heart valves act in a coordinated manner so as to open or close the blood circulation and ensure the proper circulation of blood.
What happens if there is a narrowing of the aortic valve (stenosis)?
The obstruction of blood flow caused by narrowing of the aortic valve (stenosis) causes an overload in the heart because it must pump blood faster. Over time the vital organ expands and loses its force of contraction causing, therefore, health problems (fatigue, difficulty breathing, chest pain as a result of efforts, vomiting or diarrhea).
What is the treatment of severe aortic valve stenosis?
The treatment consists in replacing the narrow aortic valve with a new valve that opens and closes properly. Currently there are no medical care that allow to solve this disorder because it is directly caused by a 'stopper' or by the difficulty on the part of the circular blood, therefore it is necessary to eliminate such an obstruction. In this regard it is crucial the diagnosis because the aortic valve stenosis can cause problems short or medium term.
What are the innovative alternatives for the treatment of stenosis?
In more severe cases, the replacement of the aortic valve occurs with the placement of the modern valves without the need to suture ( "sutureless"): the calcified and narrowed valve is replaced with a new biological valve mounted on a 'stent', in rapid manner and without sutures. This technique ensures an efficient result (the valve, in fact, does not create problems to blood flow), it can be applied in a short time and, in addition, the risks of embolism are relatively low.
